BIM DOC – Collaborative cloud platform for semantic document management of BIM processes
The main objective of the BIMDOC project is the development of a Collaborative BIM Platform in the cloud, acting as an integrator between BIM software for building and asset modeling and management, and document management platforms.
The software ecosystem on both sides is extensive, making it unfeasible to implement integration mechanisms for any combination of systems within the project, and it also has limited market potential. Hence, the project opts for open standards. In the case of BIM, the reference standard is IFC, which is an exchange format containing the geometric and semantic information of an asset (mainly a building).
On the other hand, in the Document Management field, there is the CMIS standard, which provides an abstraction layer for different document management systems to exchange information regardless of the internal structure or database each one uses. Therefore, the solution to be developed should be based on the proper interaction between IFC and CMIS, with the IFC model linking different elements and aspects of the building to related files (spreadsheets, PDFs, etc.).

DDO-CONVERTER - System for automated document migration between different document management technologies
DDO - COVERTER is a system that enables the automated conversion of formats between different platforms and technologies for generating and managing documents in the Customer Communications Management (CCM) domain.
CCM refers to a set of software tools that allow organizations to create, customize, and deliver communications to their customers efficiently and independently of the communication channel.
Currently, there are numerous applications in the market for document generation, many of which, despite having a large installed base, have become obsolete or do not meet the requirements that end customers have regarding document creation.
Many of these end customers, primarily companies in the financial and utilities sectors, for whom document generation and management are key elements in their customer relations, show interest in changing platforms. The main reasons for the change include performance issues, functionality (multichannel, logic integrated into documents, etc.), and, in some cases, support.
The main challenge in undertaking the change is the cost associated with migrating large volumes (on the order of thousands) of documents or forms designed in the old tools to a new platform with more functionality and better performance and support.
DDO Converter makes it possible to undertake a migration project for print forms:
- Eliminates dependency on the current vendor
- Drastically reduces project timelines
- Allows the choice of any new platform that supports the XSL:FO standard

Our task is to develop and integrate in a web platform the agent-based model (MBA) of the project, a type of computational model that allows the simulation of actions and interactions of autonomous individuals within an environment, and allows to determine what effects they produce in the system as a whole. It combines elements of game theory, complex systems, emergence, computational sociology, multi-agent systems, and evolutionary programming. The models simulate the simultaneous operations of multiple entities (agents) in an attempt to recreate and predict the actions of complex phenomena.
